Apply for Leave of Absence

Published:
Updated:

A Leave of Absence (LOA) in higher education parlance is a temporary break from studies, usually approved for personal, medical, financial, or other valid reasons. It allows students to pause enrollment while retaining the right to return without reapplying.

Students who are on leave are restricted from or placed in situations such as the following:

  • attending classes or earning credits
  • participate in official school activities, events, and enrollment
  • availing services such as library, medical and dental, and consultation
  • scholarship benefits are suspended and may be rescinded
  • foreign students may experience visa issues in which the university may not be a position to assist

Prolonged absence may affect the students’ program of study and may be subjected to the Maximum Residency Requirement review upon return.

Students who wish to continue their study after their leave should file for Request for Re-activation six (6) weeks before the enrollment period.
