Course Crediting
Course Crediting is the academic process by which the university evaluates and recognizes courses previously completed by a student—either within the university or at another accredited institution—and grants equivalent credit toward the student’s current program of study.
Typically, course crediting happens whenever any of the following scenarios applies.
- A new student wishes to credit courses they took from their previous school. These students are classified as transferees.
- An existing student shifts or changes their program of study and certain courses have differences in number of units or in the title itself but are substantially equivalent.
- A graduate who wish to take another degree.
Processing Time
The processing time for request for course crediting depends on the number of courses to be credited. Typically this is from 3-10 days.
Eligibility
Any transferee student, students that shifted their program, or students who took another degree are eligible to avail of the service.
When can you avail of the service?
Anytime.
How to apply for the service?
This is process is typically initiated by the support client together with the student. The following are scenarios when the service is initiated.
Transferee Course Crediting
- Once the Admissions Officer entertains a potential student transferee, they would download the appropriate crediting file.
- Senior High Transferee to
- College Transferee
- The form is given to the applicant to be filled-out with the passing courses from the previous school.
- The applicant is requested to bring additional documents such as grade certifications and course description commence with the evaluation.
Program Shifting
- As the student applies for program shifting, the student is given the request for shifting form to fill out
- Once filled-out, the student returns the filled-out form to their respective Program Section Chief for validation
Another Degree & Special Cases
There are cases where there is no direct crediting of courses specially for students who are going to take up another degree. In this particular scenario a special credit transfer form has been developed to address this concern.
