Policies on Academic Status Review

Objective/s

The objective of this policy is to establish rules, guidelines, and procedures for it’s implementation.

Scope

All active, on leave, and inactive students are affected by this policy. A student, on account of a failing weighted average, may be denied readmission subject to the Selective Retention and Readmission Policies of the university.

Policy

The following policy guidelines shall be strictly implemented by the university.

Students who failed to meet the criteria are advised to shift to another program or secure transfer credentials should there be no other program options.

The Academic Advisor shall confer with and advise the parent and the student of the implication of the academic review.

In instances where the student has only 19 remaining units to complete the program, they shall be reprieved from this policy and be allowed to continue and finish the program.

Students Admitted 1st Quarter AY 2018-2019 Onwards

The review of academic status of all students who entered the university by 1st Quarter of AY 2018-2019 onwards shall be performed during the closing of the last regular term for the academic year. This includes all students who filed Leave of Absence (LOA) during that particular academic year.

For Students in Licensure Programs

Students in licensure programs will be dismissed from the program and will not be re-admitted should the any of the following hold true.

  1. Obtained a cumulative general weighted average (GWA) greater than 3.50.
  2. Obtained failing marks in more than 60% of the total number of units enrolled in that academic year.

Additionally, the following program specific rules shall apply.

Accountancy Program

To be retained in the ACT Program, a student must obtain a minimum grade of 2.25 in all courses below.

Students in the Accountancy program must pass the Qualifying/Exit Exam administered after successfully completing the courses above. Students must pass a minimum of 75% score to be retained in the program. Exceptions to this rule are subject to the Dean as recommended by their respective Program Chair.

Students failing the Qualifying/Exit Exam are given a one-time opportunity for a re-take

Students must also pass the Comprehensive Exam administered on-line at the end-of-every term with a passing mark of 75%.

The Comprehensive Exam can be taken multiple times until they obtain a passing mark.

Architecture Program

A student who fails thrice in AR143X Comprehensive Exam shall not be allowed to continue in the BS Architecture program.

For Students in Non-Licensure Programs

At the time of evaluation, students in non-licensure programs must meet the following criteria.

  1. Obtained a cumulative general weighted average of 3.75 or better.
  2. Obtained passing marks for 75% of the total number of units enrolled for the academic year.

Students Admitted prior to 1st Quarter AY 2018-2019

Students who received an academic status of WARNING, PROBATIONARY, or FINAL PROBATIONARY shall not be allowed to shift to any program with licensure examination.
